(yŭng), Andrew Jackson, Jr. Born 1932. American civil rights leader and politician. He was executive director of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (1964-1970) and later served as US ambassador to the United Nations (1977-1979) and as mayor of Atlanta (1982-1990).
