Sankt Gal·len
(zängkt gä′lən) also Saint Gall (sānt gôl′, gäl′, säN gäl′) A city of northeast Switzerland east of Zurich. Developed around a Benedictine abbey founded by an Irish missionary in the seventh century, it joined the Swiss Confederation in 1454.
