The
IMU staff visited 5,788 schools of the total 5,889 in the merged districts.
The adviser said that keeping in view the report of
IMU, the provincial government has allocated a hefty fund of Rs.36 billion in the budget for financial year 2019-20 for the promotion of education sector in the tribal districts.
The
IMU report revealed that schools across the province had witnessed overall improvement by 3 percent in one year from February 2018 to February 2019.
Sources in the
IMU told Dawn on Saturday that the unit was established in 2014 to keep check on teachers' attendance and highlight the missing facilities in the schools across the province.
All activities and responsibilities, related to
IMU in the newly Merged Tribal Districts will be carried out under the supervision of Project Director, Independent Monitoring Unit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The education department in this regard has turned down proposal of
IMU directorate to hire more people and instead decided to send current staff to the merged districts.
