Determining CM position is considered of great clinical importance in diagnosis of tethered cord syndrome, spinal anesthesia, myelography and lumber punctures (Demiryurek et al., 2002).
Myelography can show the location and extent of a CSF leak.
Moreover, with the increased number of complex spine surgeries, surgeons may request more computed tomography (CT) myelography examinations instead of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) due to magnetic susceptibility artifacts from the surgical hardware and to assess surgical complications such as CSF leak.
Alternatively, dedicated spine imaging (such as heavily T2-weighted fat-saturated MRI or CT myelography) may demonstrate direct evidence of a CSF leak.
DR 800's robust and reliable solution can handle a full range of radiography (including static exams and tilting exams), fluoroscopy exams (including barium meals, swallows and enemas, arthrograms and cysto-urethrograms, myelography and catheter placement, etc.), as well as tomosynthesis exams, concluded the company.
Myelography computerized tomography and epidural blood patch are reliable diagnostic and treatment modalities.
The North American Spine Society (NASS) has recommended that patients should be diagnosed with degenerative LSS when their present illness and physical examination findings are in accordance with it and anatomic narrowing of the spinal canal or nerve root impingement are found through medical imaging examinations such as MRI, Computed Tomography (CT) myelography, and CT.7 FJS, one of the most common causes of LBP, is a pain attributed to structures that compose facet joints.
[18] Myelography is difficult to perform, because it is not easy to retain the contrast medium in the cervical subarachnoid space when the neck is flexed.
Other differential diagnoses for pseudosubarachnoid hemorrhage findings in CTs scan include diffuse cerebral edema, purulent meningitis, large parenchymal infarction with associated edema, mass effect from a subdural hemorrhage, contrast extravasation, status epilepticus, spontaneous intracranial hypotension, and after myelography (7).
We decided to perform an EBP, and to be able to identify the site of CSF leakage, an MR myelography was taken.
CT myelography is used to evaluate the spinal canal, spinal cord, spinal nerve roots, vertebrae, and discs when MRI is contraindicated.
