Allen wrote that for Ptolemy the group was [tau][epsilon][tau][rho][alpha][pi][lambda][epsilon][upsilon][rho]ov (tetrapleuron), which translates to "quadrilateral." Subsequently, in his 1603 Uranometria, Johann Bayer converted Ptolemy's Greek into the low Latin terebellum, which appears in a few, later star atlases.
