The first little room, introducing the exhibition, explains how well-heeled Britons on the old 'grand tour' of Europe fell for the paintings of
Claude Lorrain, a French artist based in Italy who pioneered landscape painting.
Around the walls hung splendid paintings by the likes of Titian,
Claude Lorrain and Frans Hals.
But just as 80-year-old Hockney was inspired by the 17th century painter
Claude Lorrain, so his brightly-coloured piece from 2010 has inspired tenants at Bradley Court in Bradley.
Starting with works by the preeminent neoclassical painters Nicolas Poussin and
Claude Lorrain (whose distinct pictorial visions gave rise to an unmistakable relationship between the garden, the viewer and the natural world) this deftly edited volume brings together an arrangement of interpretations and theories exploring metaphors and meanings within the very practice of gardening itself.
Having emerged from a classical background, James began his career gaining inspiration from the great romantic landscape painters, such as J.M.W Turner,
Claude Lorrain, Caspar David Friedrich, and Thomas Moran.
SPECTACULAR Baroque art masterpieces by Peter Paul Rubens, Peter Lely and
Claude Lorrain have been re-displayed in Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery following a two-year research project.

Claude Lorrain and Gaspar Poussin, and the Old Kitchen, which opened in 1757 and remained in use right up to the start of World War Two.
