Summary: Boric acid, one of the boron products, is obtained from colemanite sulfuric acid process in some countries.
The dilute acid process involves a solution of about 1% sulfuric acid concentration in a continuous flow reactor at a high temperature (about 488K) (Graf and Koehler, 2000).
Additionally, Napco has one anodizing line which uses a sulphuric acid process with an electro colouring facility from SAS, UK and Metachem, Germany.
Conventional zinc fatty acid process promoters like Aktiplast PP are still effective in lowering viscosity, improving extrusion speed and increasing mold flow, especially when used in carbon black reinforced compounds.
On the basis of methods of treatment, the flue gas desulphurization market can be segmented into scrubber, SNOX and wet sulphuric acid process. Scrubber method can be further bifurcated into dry and semi-dry process.
With respect to its new acrylic acid process, Novomer recently received a $5 million DOE grant, as part of the Clean Energy Manufacturing Initiative, for scale-up of its catalytic technology that involves the reaction of shale gas-based EO and CO.
They consider such topics as metallurgical offgas cooling and cleaning, the catalytic oxidation of SO2 to SO3, the second catalyst bed heatup path, the three catalyst bed acid plant, acid temperature and control and heat recovery, wet sulfuric acid process fundamentals, and the cost of sulfuric acid production.
Metal containers should never be used during this acid process.
On both fronts--HPA and SGA--Orbite is applying (or would apply) its unique, hydrochloric acid process for alumina fabrication, which creates no toxic waste and also allows for extraction of valuable rare earths and rare metals such as gallium, scandium and magnesium, which are in demand for things like solar cells and electronics.
The rate of reaction in acid catalysed process is slow; from 1 to 2 hr in base catalysed and 8 to 20 hr in acid process for completion of the reaction.
Sunkar's phosphoric acid process engineer for the Chilisai project, Prayon Technologies SA ('Prayon'), has run a series of pilot plant tests using representative rock samples from across the total resource base area.
