Edward VIII
Later known as Duke of Windsor. 1894-1972. King of Great Britain and Ireland (1936) who precipitated a constitutional crisis by his determination to marry Wallis Warfield Simpson, an American who had been divorced. He abdicated, married (1937), and spent much of the rest of his life in France.
