During pyrolysis, mostly
straight-chain alkanes are generated whereas both
straight-chain and branched alkenes are obtained.
The hydrotreating process of vegetable oil involves the transformation of vegetable oil triglycerides into
straight-chain alkanes.
In the light of the stringent environmental laws, isomerization is a good process as it enhances the octane number of hydrocarbons especially lighter hydrocarbon in the range of C5-C6 by converting their
straight-chain structure into branched chain structure without producing aromatics in the products [3].
Asphaltenes have been shown to exhibit polymeric behavior, be soluble in aromatics and longer
straight-chain hydrocarbons, and insoluble in alcohols and water, increase viscosity and stiffness, and harden softer petroleum fractions.
Butane ([C.sub.4][H.sub.10]): A
straight-chain or branch-chain hydrocarbon extracted from natural gas or refinery gas streams, which is gaseous at standard temperature and pressure.
Comment: Azelaic acid is a 9-carbon
straight-chain dicarboxylic acid that occurs naturally in some foods.
The
straight-chain higher alcohols are considered to have the most significant sensorial impact (1-propanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol (isobutyl alcohol), 2-methyl-1-butanol and 3-methyl-1-butanol (isoamyl alcohol).
It is comprised of a structuring agent consisting of a low molecular mass N-acyl glutamic acid diamide having a
straight-chain alkyl group comprising dibutyl lauroyl glutamide, a low molecular mass N-acyl glutamic acid diamide having a branched-chain alkyl group comprising dibutyl ethylhexanoyl glutamide, and at least one polyorganosiloxane polymer comprising a nylon-611/dimethicone copolymer.
About 50 individual features for isopropyl cyanide (and 120 for normal-propyl cyanide, its
straight-chain sister molecule) were identified in the ALMA spectrum of the Sagittarius B2 region.
Straight-chain aldehydes may result from B-oxidation of unsaturated FA or from amino acids by strecker degradation.
They determined the primary source of the odor to be benign substances known as "carboxylic acids" and "
straight-chain aldehydes." Fortunately, the odors didn't repel the bees and dissipated after a few months, according to the beekeepers.
