Entries must depict a live portrayal of one or more of the following five waterfowl species: wood duck, American wigeon, Northern pintail,
green-winged teal, and lesser scaup.
An assortment of waterfowl species, including mallards, wood ducks, widgeon,
green-winged teal and northern shoveler use the property, and countless other bird species also call Utica Marsh home.
The migration chronology of banded mallards might be broadly representative of other dabbling duck species that breed in Alaska, such as the American
green-winged teal (Anas carolinensis), American wigeon (Anas americana), and northern pintail (Anas acuta), in which H5Nx was detected at lower latitudes.

Very early on his first morning of duck hunting, in response to ducks coming in and lots of shooting, Jamie had made stellar retrieves of three mallards, a black duck and two

The H5N1 strain of bird flu was found earlier this year on a
green-winged teal in Washington near the border with Canada.
The largest variety of puddle ducks including pintails, blue and
green-winged teal, widgeon and an occasional gadwall will swing through the area headed south this month.
