Ae·o·lis

(ē′ə-lĭs) or Ae·o·li·a (ē-ō′lē-ə)

An ancient region of the western coast of Asia Minor in present-day Turkey. It was made up of a group of cities founded by the Aeolians c. 1100 bc.
