Sunday had a matinee show on the beach with
surf music and pina coladas.
But in doing Misirlou his way, Dale -- who died last Saturday at age 81 -- helped birth a new American sound:
surf music, which with its hurtling grooves and overdriven tremolo brought listeners around the world into the psychic landscape of Dale's adopted home of Southern California.
Dale liked to say it was he and not the Beach Boys who invented
surf music. Some critics have said he was right.
Eventually the music bug bit him, and Adoro returned with Markus Highway that combines rock and
surf music. 'A soundtrack to my life at that time.'

surf music by The Waveriders including Monstah Costume contests from 7:00 till 10:00 pm included in Weekend admission and for Hotel guests.
Although some may question whether a real and meaningful relationship between the two activities is simply a myth propagated by the ever-resurfacing influence of the
surf music genre, Cooley claims that the relationship not only exists, but that it is highly complex.
At around 7pm as the sun sets, the evening will come to life with the sounds of the talented live bands including The Truly Love Trio (US), The Roommates (UK), Danny & the Chicks (GER), The Nymonics (GER), Freddy Velas & the Silvertones (I), The Velvet Candles (Spain), Frankie Dean (UK), C-Sides (
Surf music) and Cyprus' very own The Xiles.
Heald wrote the show's music, inspired by the
surf music that was popular while the show was on television and that inspired the original soundtrack, Allaback said.
