We found no species that Brown and Berry (in litt.) had not recorded during their survey of the Santa Monica Mountains, and they found four species we did not encounter, small-footed myotis (Myotis ciliolabrum), spotted bat (Euderma maculatum),
pallid bat (Antrozous pallidus), and western mastiff bat (Eumopsperotis californicus).

She began thinking this week about the spots, including a pond she knows about in an oak woodland, where she's likely to find the Townsend's big-eared bat, red bat or
pallid bat.

The complete colony of 76 bats, including a mixture of Mexican free-tailed and
pallid bat species, was collected for evaluation; all tested negative for rabies.
The only bat species that somewhat resembled the yellow bat in physical appearance was the
pallid bat, Antrozous pallidus.
Incidental records of predation on other bat species by Great Homed Owls elsewhere in their range, based on pellet analyses, are limited to a Big Brown Bat (Eptesicus fuscus; Kittredge and others 2006), a Western Red Bat (Lasiurus blossevillii; Fitch 1947), and a
Pallid Bat (Antrozous pallidus; Fitch 1947).
