(də văl′wä), Dame Ninette Originally Edris Stannus. 1898-2001. Irish-born British dancer and choreographer who danced with the Ballets Russes from 1923 to 1925 and then returned to London, where she later founded the Sadler's Wells Ballet, which became the Royal Ballet at Covent Garden (1956).
