Tudor style

English, predominantly sixteenth-century furniture in a Renaissance, increasingly mannerist-influenced provincial style. It developed the draw-leaf table by 1550, the decorative nonesuch chest, and the Farthingale chair (the latter two being nineteenth-century names). Holly and ebony were new woods. The reign of Elizabeth I is sometimes separated from the four earlier Tudors, but, in fact, the ornate Italianate trend only became more pronounced.
