There are 48 habitat types that have been described by the Habitats Directive of the European Union and 14 of these habitats have consisted as priority habitats with four endemic habitat types described: Serpentinophilous grasslands of Cyprus, peat grasslands of Troodos, scrub forest of Quercus alnifolia (Cyprus oak) and
