Guitar great Warren Haynes returns to Eugene with his band Gov't Mule on Thursday touting this month's release of a new archival album, "The Tel-Star Sessions." The album consists of the band's first and never-before released demos (now newly mixed and mastered) that were recorded in June 1994 at Tel-Star Studios in Bradenton, Fla., by the band's original lineup - Haynes, drummer Matt Abts and bassist Allen Woody (who died in 2000).
Gov't Mule formed in 1994 as an Allman Brothers side project with slide guitarist Haynes and bass guitarist Allen Woody, according to a press release.
The three-piece band had already built up a substantial following in the US when bass player Allen Woody died suddenly in 2000.
