He's gathered together some serious talent to pull it off though, joining forces with Maartin Allcock from Fairport Convention and Jethro Tull,
uillean pipe player Troy Donockley and Irish violinist Eimear Bradley.
This group, however, delves into Irish folks tunes and jazzes them up with a band that's half trad jazz ensemble (drums, piano, bass), half Irish folk band (
uillean pipes, button accordian, concertina), with a measure of shared heritage (guitar and fiddle).
It's a likeable collection of largely instrumental tracks, backed with arrangements in flute, viola, violins, cello and
Uillean pipes.

Formed in 1997 by Dubliner David King, Flogging Molly is a seven-piece Irish American celtic punk band with a sound akin to a 21st century version of The Dubliners.' With King, 49, on vocals, guitar, banjo and bodhr[sz]n he is the only full-Irish member and is joined by a band of Irish-descendants including his wife Bridget Regan-King (fiddle,
uillean pipes, vocals), Dennis Casey (guitar, vocals), Matt Hensley (accordion, concertina), Nathen Maxwell (bass, vocals), Bob Schmidt (mandolin, banjo) and George Schwindt (drums, percussion).
Troy Donockley (
uillean pipes and Barbara Dickson sidekick), Andy Dinan (double All Ireland fiddle champ) and Tim Harries (Steeleye Span double-bassist).
Hal Parfitt Murray (fiddle), Eoin Duignan (
uillean pipes and low whistle) and Matthias Kie[sz]ling (keyboards) complete the sound.
"You'll find traditional Irish musical instruments being played here - the
uillean pipes or elbow pipes, the bodhran drum, fiddles, tin whistles, squeeze boxes.

He was in the studio in Birmingham playing the
uillean pipes, and I remember him saying 'What key do you want it in, Barry?' I said 'You pitch it where you think it's right', and that was our rehearsal.
