Just back from the River Tyne at Newburn is the
Keelman, a little pub nestled between the trees and bushes which line the aptly named
Keelman's Way, the trail which followers the river.

You can pick up the famous Sea-to-Sea route just west of Gibside and pass through the woodlands and meadows of the Derwent Valley, or follow the river Tyne along the
Keelman's Way.
The
Keelman has seating inside and out, as well as in a large conservatory, and is mostly housed in an attractive stone building which was once a water pumping station.

Turn left and continue past the Malmaison Hotel to
Keelman Square where you will find two further artworks: Column and Steps and Rudder (Andrew Burton, 1996).
POPULAR riverside pub The
Keelman is up for sale together with its Big Lamp Brewery - but you'll have to negotiate separately if you want its successful beer recipes.
First built in 1998, the kittiwake tower sits in a nature reserve by the
Keelman's Way Riverside Path close to Gateshead Stadium.
