Country Team continues to work with national institutions and local communities; as the Government of Liberia, under the exemplary Leadership of His Excellency President George Manneh Weah, pursues the overarching goals of our Pro-Poor Agenda.'
The 2030 Agenda requires bold changes to the UN Development System for the emergence of a new generation of
country teams, centred on a strategic UN Development Assistance Framework led by an impartial, independent and empowered UN Resident Coordinator, the UN press release said.
The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the Philippine government and the UN
Country Team. The Philippine government's long-term vision, firmly aligned with the commitment of UN member states in the 2030 Agenda, supports the UN System's call to "leave no one behind.
The Federal Minister appreciated the
country team for continued commitment and urged all society segments to join hands for achieving a Polio free Pakistan.
For his part, Pernia commended the UN
Country Team for their efforts in shifting the nature of the UN system engagement in the Philippines from development assistance to strategic partnership.
This was acknowledged in an open letter by the Frontier Counties of Kenya to the UN stating: 'The UN Kenya
country team has demonstrated in action and words the principle of leaving no one behind and reaching the furthest behind first; as counties historically maginalised the ushers a new dawn of development'.
Also, the meeting raised the need to provide the United Nations
country team to implement reconstruction programs and support the efforts of the Government of Sudan in peacebuilding and development in Darfur.
