The researchers examined vaccination records for all children and followed the subjects until diagnosis of autism or an autistic-spectrum disorder, age 11 years, or December 31, 2000, whichever came first.
Overall, the adjusted relative risk of developing autism was 0.92 for 440,655 vaccinated children, compared with 96,648 unvaccinated children, and the adjusted relative risk of developing other autistic-spectrum disorders was 0.83.
In the entire study group, there were 316 children diagnosed with autism and 422 with other autistic-spectrum disorders, i.e.
