Such features are cecal amputation, ileocecal thickening and inflammation, shortening of the
ascending colon, gaping of the ileocecal valve, mesenteric adenopathy, a misty mesentery, diffuse omental infiltration, loculated high-density ascites, an enhancing peritoneum with or without an omental line, nodularity of the surface of the mesenteric leaves, and transperitoneal permeation (8).
The highest risk occurs in the
ascending colon and cecum, said Dr.
The right colon is subdivided into the cecum and the
ascending colon. (2) The left colon is subdivided into the descending colon and sigmoid colon (see Table).
Inflammation of the terminal ileum secondary to an embedded plastic sword with ulceration in the
ascending colonIn addition, there was a complex enterocutaneous fistula involving the ileum and the
ascending colon. The operation ended by colostomy and ileostomy.
The right colon tumours were predominantly ulceroproliferative, whereas the left colon tumours mostly presented as a circumferential growth, thus explaining the longer duration of symptomatology as evidenced above; 70% of the cases (n=35) were right-sided tumours (located in caecum,
ascending colon, hepatic flexure or proximal transverse colon), whereas the left-sided tumours that of splenic flexure, descending colon and sigmoid colon were seen only in 30% of cases (n=15).
From the cecum to the
ascending colon, adequate bowel preparation rates were 91.1% in the L-NaP group and 83.3% in the PEG group, with the cleansing score in the L-NaP group being significantly better than in the PEG group (P = 0.017, Figure 2).
We present the case of combined pneumoperitoneum, pneumoretroperitoneum, pneumomediastinum, pneumopericardium and subcutaneous emphysema after sub mucosal tear of the
ascending colon, without evidence of intraperitoneal sepsis.
There are now 10 randomized, controlled trials showing that splitting the prep--giving half of it on the day of the procedure--improves the preparation in the
ascending colon. Second, we need all colonoscopists to photo document the cecum.
Tumor locations were divided into cecum and
ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum.
