20 April 2010 - The National Australia Bank (ASX:NAB) is not content with Australia's antitrust watchdog's decision to oppose its takeover bid for AXA Asia Pacific Holdings (ASX:AXA), or AXA APH, NAB said today.

Late in March, NAB and AXA struck a deal, under which NAB was supposed to take AXA's stake in AXA APH, while AXA was to acquire the Asian operations of AXA APH.

According to the regulator, NAB's acquisition of AXA APH would lead to a sufficient competition squeeze on the retail wealth-management market.
