an·a·plas·mo·sis

 (ăn′ə-plăz-mō′sĭs)
n. pl. an·a·o·plas·mo·ses (-mō′sēz)
Infection with parasitic rickettsiae of the genus Anaplasma, especially A. phagocytophilum, formerly classified as Ehrlichia phagocytophilum, that are transmitted by ticks and produce manifestations in humans similar to those of Rocky Mountain spotted fever, including rash, muscle pain, and fever.

[New Latin Anaplasma, genus name (ana- probably irregular alteration of Greek a-, an-, without; see a-1 + plasma, so called because the cells of the type species seem to contain only chromatin and no cytoplasm) + -osis.]
