NEBR reported that from 2000-2011, the labour force in 19 agriculturally- oriented African countries moved away from the agricultural sector at an average of 10.61 per cent, and moved into the manufacturing and services by averages or 2.15 and 8.23 per cent, respectively.

Interestingly, NEBR says that the agricultural employment share is falling faster in countries that started with a higher share of the labour force engaged in agriculture, as well as those countries that have already achieved at least one of the Comprehensive African Agriculture Development Programme (CDP) targets, which, incidentally, are a big part of WEF's recent report.

One hundred [F.sub.2] plants derived from the common bean cross Olathe x GN Nebr.#1 sel.27 were developed to score Ur-6 segregation in a greenhouse, Department of Horticulture, University of Nebraska-Lincoln in winter 1997.

One hundred [F.sub.2] plants and 88 [F.sub.3] families (12 to 16 plants per [F.sub.3]), along with their parents Olathe and Nebr.#1 sel.27, were planted ill the greenhouse on 16 Feb.

The objectives of this study were to identify RAPD markers linked to the Ur-7 gene for SR to rust race 59 by means of BSA in an [F.sub.2] population from the MA common bean cross GN1140 (resistant) x GN Nebr. #1 (susceptible), position the Ur-7 gene on a genetic linkage map constructed from the MA cross GN BelNebRR-1 x A 55, and determine the presence or absence of these identified markers in bean cultivars-lines.

Eighty-nine [F.sub.2] plants derived from the common bean cross GN1140 x GN Nebr. #1 were developed for identification of the Ur-7 gene.
