 (mə-rä′, mä-), Jean Paul 1743-1793.
Swiss-born French revolutionary and scientist who founded (1789) the newspaper L'Ami du peuple, which supported the French Revolution. A radical Jacobin, he was assassinated in 1793 by a Girondist, Charlotte Corday.
