Sardine, also referred to as pilchard or herring fish, belongs to the
Clupeidae family.
The most frequently represented family was Cyprinidae, followed by Anguillidae, and
Clupeidae (Table 1).
This digenea show an host specificity towards fish of the family
Clupeidae distributed in temperate and tropical seas of America, and it is not reported to cause damage in fish (Love & Moser, 1983; Leon-Regagnon et al., 1997; Baldwin et al., 2011).
This order is represented by seven families: Chirocentridae,
Clupeidae, Denticipitidae, Dussumieriidae, Engraulidae, Pristigasteridae, and Sundasalangidae (Eschmeyer and Fong, 2017), and species are distributed in all continents (Malabarba et al., 2013) except Antarctica.
Extrusion was evident also among larvae of taxa in the families Engraulidae, Sciaenidae, and Scombridae, but less so for
Clupeidae and Lutjanidae; the latter result was most likely attributable to a mismatch between the timing of sampling and spawning seasons.
Las familias Poecilidae, Mugilidae y
Clupeidae fueron las mas abundantes conformando un total de 799 individuos en conjunto y representando el 58.8 % del total capturado.

Interestingly, tying the
