This project will include two 170 km subsea cables across the
Cabot Strait, with almost 50 km of overland transmission in Nova Scotia and close to another 300 km of overland transmission on the island of Newfoundland.
About 16 boats with 100 hunters were taking part in the hunt in the
Cabot Strait, between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Further analyses including 4Vn samples, however, indicated that endoparasitic helminths may have little value as tags in the classification of plaice overwintering in Laurentian Channel waters of the Cabot Strait and Cape Breton Shelf, where mixing of 4T and 4Vn fish may occur.
The winter distribution of plaice in the Laurentian Channel is continuous from the Gaspe to the Cabot Strait (Clay, 1991) and eastward along the Cape Breton Shelf (NAFO subdivision 4Vn) (Swain et al., 1998).

Cabot Strait and set the sails of his small sloop, Research II, for the open seas.
Beech, sugar maple, and eastern hemlock have invaded all three Maritime provinces, but apparently arrived too late to cross the newly formed
Cabot Strait into Newfoundland.
