The attic story caretaker's rambling flat has also been converted in Liverpool's first rooftop champagne bar which overlooks the strand waterfront, perfect for cocktails or afternoon tea.

The English borrowed the word as attic and extended its meaning, originally in the phrases attic story and attic floor, to designate the top story of any building just under the roof.
